My name is Lindsey H. and this is my MY GILGAL STORY!
In my 20s, I became addicted to alcohol and pain pills, largely influenced by the bartending industry.
At the age of 29, I entered a treatment center, but relapsed back into my addiction. Discouraged by my experience with traditional addiction treatment programs, I sought out a program that aligned with my faith values and would address not only the behavioral changes I wanted to make, but also provide the internal transformation I needed to truly overcome my addiction.
When I think about my experience at Gilgal, I am really grateful for the program. I like the structure that the program provides. And even though I do face challenges, the fruitful relationships I’ve formed with the other women at Gilgal, provide encouragement to me to reach my goals.
In the future, I want to go back to school and pursue a field that involves animals. I have a vision to create a rehabilitation center that uses animal assistant therapy. I also dream of getting married and owning my own home.
