Last Friday, December 21, Gilgal welcomed two new clients just in time for Christmas.
Hi, my name is Shaye H. I am a 52-year old mother of 2 sons. Drugs have been a part of my life since I was 15-years old.
Last Christmas, I was dealing with the loss of my grandmother and other family members. I chose to deal with my grief by getting high in the woods or on the side of a Texaco near my family’s home. I was hurt, angry, and hopeless. Angry that my brother kept me from visiting my grandmother prior to her death. Hurt that he made decisions that would impact my life without consulting me. Hopeless that I would never have another meaningful Christmas. My Grandma helped make Christmas real and illuminated the importance of Jesus’ birth. I miss her.
This Christmas, I am 13 days clean. I am hopeful that recovery will work for me. I look forward to setting some goals that will change my life. I want to connect to the Jesus that my grandmother loved so much. Please pray for me.
Thank you for your role in making Gilgal available to me. I was met with such kindness and compassion and I am forever grateful. Merry Christmas and blessings for a great 2019! Change happens at Gilgal. I am living proof.
